Vision of  An Effective Weight Loss Program

An effective weight loss program should provide for the body’s nutrition while enabling the body to lose fat and excess weight. The food intake must ideally also aid in maintaining or increasing the body’s metabolic rate. Physical fitness and good health should be the objective of a weight loss program aside from losing weight.

Breakfast is an important component in a weight loss program. To effectively lose weight, we must eat a healthy breakfast. Skipping breakfast would slow down the body’s metabolism; the body being like in a fasting state since it has not taken food for 10 hours or more tries to conserve energy by slowing down our body’s metabolism. Eating a healthy breakfast would increase our rest metabolic rate earlier in the day and helps to regulate our appetite throughout the day. Breakfast can help us eat in moderation at lunch and dinner. Also, research indicates that a high-fiber, low-fat breakfast(example: oatmeal with skim milk and low-fat yogurt) may make a major contribution to a total reduced food intake for the day. If one has to skip a meal, skip supper which, besides, is a healthy way to lose weight.

Diet or dieting alone can’t make us to successfully lose weight. Limiting calorie intake and burning off more calories with exercise is the best way for weight loss and for physical fitness. Exercise of at least 30 minutes is good for general health but, for effective weight loss program 1 hour is needed. Exercise has to be done on most days but, it would be a good idea to make it a daily habit. Aerobic exercise like brisk walking, jogging, biking etc., besides burning calories, is good for the heart and lungs. Strength or resistance exercise, like weight lifting, builds muscles while burning fat.

Knowing how many calories we consume in a day would help us to lose weight, since, that would tell us how to manage the amount of food we eat and, if we take in more than our body requires, how much calories we need to burn through exercise.

A simple formula for a weight loss program is not to skip breakfast, eat food at breakfast which is low-fat and high in fiber, knowing and limiting your daily calorie intake and burning off more calories with exercise and daily physical activities.
